iPhone 4 Without the Contract – New iPod Touch

Apple has finally released the hotly anticipated and rumored new iPod Touch with a camera…. Make that 2 cameras, one on the back and one on the front for proper Facetime communications. What we didn’t think we were going to get from Apple with this release was the Retina Display, 3-Axis Gyro and the Apple A4 processor.

This device is a slimmer version of the iPhone 4 but without the nasty AT&T contract. If you’ve been considering an iPhone but don’t want the antenna issues or the AT&T service this is the device for you.

Pricing look like the following: 8GB for $229, 32GB for $299 & 64GB for $399

Schmap It With Your iPod touch/ iPhone

The developers over at Schmap.com have release a neat little web-app that lets you browse for a variety of locations and events through most major cities from your iPod Touch or iPhone.

Its easy, just browse to http://www.schmap.com from either of those Apple devices over Wi-Fi or EDGE. Select the city you wish to peruse and then the sites you wish to see (cafes, hotels, tours, etc…). Schmap will then display a listing of each of the sites it has for your search. The nifty part comes when you rotate your device into landscape browsing as the listing you’ve selected will be displayed in a static Google Map image along side the original listing. Stream Your iTunes Library to an iPhone or iPod Touch

A free-ware application called Simplify Media streams music from any shared iTunes library over the internet, effectively giving your limited-space iPhone or iPod touch access to your entire music library—no matter what the size.

To use it, you’ll need to install Simplify Media on your Windows or Mac desktop. Then, using a jailbroken iPhone, install the Simplify Media app for the iPhone from Installer.app. You’re limited to using Simplify Media to a Wi-Fi connection, and it’s a bit buggy in the beta version, but as you can see from the video, it’s got tons of potential.

Quake 3 Multiplayer on iPod Touch

Canadian game developers HermitWorks, creators of the rather cool Space Trader, have just posted a short blog entry showing a ridiculously impressive video of Quake III Arena running on two iPod Touch units. Yes, I said two. Network play, baby! The game appears to run at a very impressive frame rate, and it uses the accelerometer for movement and screen taps for firing.

An even more awesome and surprising release is of the new 32 GB iPod Touch. This new iPod touch will also cost $499 and is available immediately as well.

This software blows away the usability and stability issues that is Ephpod and most other iPod managing software releases. I have been successfully using YamiPod for about a week now and it seems to be doing exactly what it’s supposed to and nothing else and well, what else can you ask for!

Video iPod Leaked Pic?

Some are saying this leaked photo (to MacShrine) could be the new video iPod that will be announced next Tuesday. It is similar to the leaked photo that was circulated on the morning of the “One More Thing..” event. This also could be related to the Apple tablet project with the multi-touch screen software… w00t!

What ever this picture is of, it looks super cool!

Apple :: Another Video iPod

ThinkSecret is reporting on a completely new video iPod that will have a 3.5″ touchscreen instead of the current click wheel. Supposedly the click wheel will appear and disappear when the screen is touched.

Of note is the supposed release date of April 1st, which happens to be Apple’s 30th birthday.

Might this new iPod integrate PortalPlayer’s WiFi/Bluetooth chipset?
