The developers over at Equinux have developed a nice freeware application called MediaCentral that offers itself as a strong alternative to Apple’s Front Row. This application is completely free and requires no special tricks in order to get it installed on you Mac either.
It also does a few things Front Row doesn’t. For instance it can stream the latest QuickTime movie trailers and supports eyeTV integration. Also MediaCentral uses spotlight integration to deliver all your video content in one place including any Video_TS files (DVD Backups) you may have saved on your computer.
And yes the UI is very much the same idea as Front Row, complete with sweet fade in/out screens and menus on a great looking full screen IR controllable environment.
